Devour

all call. haha. i've recently realized that all calls aren't just for drunk navy members sitting at a bar watching sports and saying "all call" as if it had something to do with what they're doing. they're usually sent out to the world when we're about ready to jump overboard and we know that while we're waiting to jump, that special person that just happens to show up at the right time to save the day. we all want that person that shows up when we least expect it but most need it. No, not the knight on a white horse type person -  but the person who can make things easier to handle, even if they can't lighten the load. sometimes it's not about the white horse or the knight or hell, even the 80's cliche guy driving a dodge dart - it's the person who you can see in your life and you suddenly can't figure out where they've been that whole time. they fit into your life like the missing piece that you didn't know was missing. And it's not that "you complete me" type of thing - it's the "wow, ok. this is weird, but really awesome" type connection that you can't deny and don't want to fight. It's not always romantic or even a true compatibility sense of purpose - it's just that sense things are better when they're around.

I don't know if you would call them "rose colored" glasses or a teeny bopper giddity "oh my god he looked at me!" (insert dorky cheerleader shrieking here, yeah, you know you know the sound and don't pretend you don't) type moments, but they're amazingly perfect.  Some shows talk about "well, she's my person. she's the person that will help hide the body, exact revenge, wipe my ass if i can't and not hold it against me later on. she's the person that gets me into and out of trouble. she just gets me and i just get her. she's my soul mate. she's my person" type things that as women, we don't always know how to look for and when we do find them, we're often too busy to appreciate and truly savor the friendship.  If we are fortunate enough to have that friendship and if we are blessed enough to be able to savor it - than we know how to help each other discover that place of joy that a "kissmet" friendship can bring. Everyone deserves to have "their person" in life.

These people, our "people" are the ones that don't run when times get hard or we evolve into a person that isn't the person that we thought we were. They forgive our faults and love us in spite of and sometimes because of them.  I'm evolving into a different person now than I was 10 years ago. Yes, we grow alot between age 20 and age 30. We change, we realize more of what we want in life and less of what we don't want. I've recently chosen to live my life for happiness and not settle for what i thought i would want. I'm moving foward with the life I want to live and choosing to accept the happiness that comes along the way. Yes it's terrifying and daunting and overwhelming at the same time. But it's also exciting. Because by choosing happiness, i'm choosing to accept the love that the world wants to give and that is an awesome thing.  I'm praying that my girls will grow up with a passion for life and the joy that they can find if they open themselves up to the beauty that is there.

So, my advice is to find your person - that person that will wipe your butt and help you devour the joy that is in life - hold on tight. The ride is totally worth it. :)
